The castle of CHAUMONT was built in elenventh century in an exceptional site on a promontory at the southern extremity of the mountain "le Vuache". With a wide panoramic view, it was a compelled way and a compelled toll from Chambéry to Genève towns and from Genève to Lyon towns. During the elenventh century, the castle belonging to a fief, was a dependency of genevan counts.
- In 1401, the castle became Savoy counts property.
- In 1536, France invaded Savoy and the king François Premier slept in the castle of Chaumont.
- In 1589 and 1590, the castle was attacked by bernese and genevan troops.
- In 1630, the castle was razed by Louis XIII during Savoy conquest. So, it fell in ruins but glorius past events of Chaumont, disrupted Genève, Savoy and France history.
